Technical Assistance Centers

Occasionally, a vehicle does not pass after a second test or is rejected from testing consecutive times. When this happens you can:

Eligibility For Free Technical Assistance Services:
If your vehicle has repeatedly failed the OBD inspection, or you have had consecutive tests that were not able to be completed due to readiness monitor or non-communications, you may be eligible for free diagnostic assistance. Appointments must be made through any WVIP Inspection Facility Manager.

The conditions for receiving diagnostic assistance is:

Technical Assistance Center Services
Once it has been determined that your vehicle meets the eligibility requirements, an appointment will be made for you at one of two Technical Assistance Centers. Vehicle's will receive a diagnostic analysis only. The technician will attempt to not remove any vehicle parts to perform an evaluation. No repairs will be performed at the Technical Assistance Center.
What Should The Motorist Bring With Them To The Technical Assistance Center?

Note to Customer: Please park in Technical Assistance Center parking lot and walk into office area of the Center. The Diagnostic Technician will confirm your appointment before diagnostic services will be rendered. Customer punctuality is very much appreciated.

What Will Motorists Receive At The Technical Assistance Center?
After the diagnostic analysis of the vehicle, the motor vehicle owner will be given a Diagnostic Assistance Action Report. This report contains the diagnostic analysis results that can be given to their Repair Technician. The diagnostic information will assist the repair technician in locating the cause of the unset readiness monitors, non communication or OBD failure. Additional repairs can then be performed and the vehicle returned to a vehicle inspection facility for retest.

Diagnostic Waivers
If a vehicle has failed two tests and a recognized repair technician performed repairs between inspections, your vehicle may be eligible for a diagnostic waiver. The criteria for a diagnostic waiver are:

Technical Assistance Center's Scheduled Hours of Operations:
Monday thru Thursday: 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Friday: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Saturday: 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
